Laboratory

The Anne Arundel Medical Center Laboratory offers a full range of diagnostic testing for inpatients and outpatients ranging from newborns to seniors. Laboratory services include chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, surgical and cytopathology, including on-site fine-needle or bone marrow biopsies and frozen sections.

For our patients’ convenience, the Laboratory offers four locations for specimen collections. The Diagnostic Center on the first floor of the Acute Care Pavilion is open for specimen collection six days a week. Most collection is done on a walk-in basis, but for some specialized procedures such as fine needle aspirations, patients will need to make an appointment.

Additional collection sites are located in the Sajak Pavilion, AAMC Health Services-Kent Island, and AAMC Health Services-Bowie. In addition to serving the AAMC Laboratory, these draw centers accept testing requests for Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp (Bowie does not currently accept LabCorp requests).

A Blood Donor Center is located in the Wayson Pavilion where qualifying autologous and directed donations are accepted in addition to volunteer donors.
